About the Author
d.L. Brooks Aguilar spent a good part of her young life in a small town on the coast of California near Native American people. She learned later in life she carried the proud blood herself, which gave her great pride in two heritages. Her ability to write for both makes her feel very privileged.
She is very proud of her participation in the First Native American Indian Art Festival in Dallas, Texas, founded by her good friend and native brother Rich Lester, better known to her as “Choctaw”.
Aside from her mystery novels, she has written plays for different Christian groups, and poems and short stories for Readers Digest. She finds a lot of pride in writing histories for people devoted in their family research. Her unique talent in writing newlyweds' journey to the altar has been praised by young and old. The stories she bring alive for them is most rewarding and educational. She spent most of her career life in the psychiatric medical field, while raising her four children.
Her memories of several foreign-exchanged students, foster teenagers, and the Indian Placement Program brought her many hours of joy that she cherished still today.
She is retired now in South Texas, close to the border and near her family. Now she enjoys the happiness of writing full time. She has been a speaker in schools, social groups, church gatherings, and youth groups. Her love for riding motorcycles took her in a direction most people fear when she was a young rebel, but since November 2005, she rides for a different purpose. Her passion for writing became more serious when she joined CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association) and the serenity in her life was found in abundance. Her devotion to the "Great Father" has given her the strength to bring out things long suppressed but never forgotten for those around her and those who have the desire to have it done for them.
Her future goals and dreams are to continue her activity in CMA especially the Prison Team Ministry, helping her two cultures prosper by educating them. She aims to continue her love of writing for people, tell their stories, and especially continue her active role with her beloved family.
